Hi guys, it’s been some time since I wrote. So what’s new?
I say, life’s been pretty normal. Perhaps it can become a little more exciting, more packed, more tired and more to look forward to. It’s weird that humans are forever these uncontented beings. When you are busy, you want to rest and when you are not moving much, you wish you were on the bullet train in Japan.
I say, life like this, can be meaningful. In what sense? Reflecting, thinking, talking to friends and feeling their presence , wanting to do more for your family and self, dazing, dreaming about your ideals, imagining them come true and then becoming excitingly energised. Yes, be grateful that you can live like a child every now and then.
I say, life is frustrating when you have to wait. I’m not patient enough and I dislike being chaotic. But why do I have to wait? Isn’t it a simple case of deciding and doing it? Perhaps not. Perhaps it is. Perhaps is not good enough. I want for sure. Who doesn’t like the reply of “Yes, of course”?
I say, life is about perseverance. You got to give your best. You may not succeed, but you tried. You want to give up, but the voice within persists on. You are eventually grateful to that internal voice for pushing you on. You understand you may have reached the final destination but what’s most valuable was the process.
I say, life is about watching movies. The message that comes with it. :I Not Stupid 2, Schindler’s list, Brokeback mountain, Memoirs of a Geisha…...: What are they trying to say? Are you enlightened in one way or the other? What have you done for yourselves and others? Have you belittled your ability to help others or even yourself? I’m thinking hard…...
I say, life is not about right or wrong. It is about what you’ve done and what you’ve not done. There are so many things I want to do. The greatness in people has not been fully explored. The world you can see from reading different books. The world you can see from travelling. The world you can see from music. The world you shouldn’t see too much from…... the television.
I say, I’ve said too much. Perhaps it’s been too long since I wrote.

And its been a long time since I came in here. Been rather busy these few months. But I happen to pop by here and then. Voila! Here I am!
Long entry I must say. But I like! Thought provoking!
‘Have you belittled your ability to help others or even yourself?’
This line got me racing. How can we pin point our abilities? Our strengths you mean? Im sure we all can identify a certain trait in us but to use it as a strength is subjective. Sometimes I wonder if we are all bounded by the enviroment, the social norm, the culture, the pressure to really do what you really want to do.
I agree on quite a number of ideas here.
Life is reflective.
Life is frustrating.
Life is about preseverance.
Right or wrong in life is in your own hands.
Life is a journey. An experience. Be it good or bad. Embrace it wholeheartedly. Its your life story to write.
Keep ‘em coming Joi… =)
There are certainly lots of things that we would like to achieve in life, but sometimes we complain that we have too little time. Waiting is really tough when you have so much hopes and dreams about the future.
No one knows the true meaning of the life that you are given and the end result of your life.
Since we do not know the answers, we might as well just look forward to life’s forth coming challenges and enjoy the process of conquering them. =)
hi joi, wat an entry which requires some deep thinking….lolx
oh btw, i saw u last thur at tampines mall…were u filming some variety show?
i’ve noticed u hv very gd complexion….how did u maintain it? any tips?lolx…
I suppose you can say life can be contradicting too. People from rural places wants to get out of the farming life to come to the big city whereas people from the big city goes to rural areas and wishes life can be so much simpler like theirs after being there.
After going on a youth expedition project trip to Yunnan 2 years ago, I realised the smiles from the children there are so much more relaxed and carefree. Sometimes, I wish I could be in their shoes, leading a much simpler life, being close with nature and seeing the majestic mountains early in the morning.
Has urbanisation brought about insecurity in the lives of people? There are security cameras watching us everywhere we go, keeping a lookout for potential terrorists and evil-doers. Mistakes you made in the past will be remembered and kept in record books by the law enforcers.
Sometimes, I do find it tiring to try to keep up with the pace of life here. It’s a mad rush to
advance, but I suppose we do not really have much of a choice. We just have to move on, if not we will be neglected by society one day. I’m a 3rd year student in a local university, and I’m still thinking about my dreams, my perfect job after I graduate. Will I have a job related to what I’m studying? Or will I take a totally different route like going into photography which is what I really enjoy doing at the moment? I do not know. Only time will tell.
I totally agree with what you said about perseverance. Though the results may not be what
I have expected sometimes, I knew I have tried my best. There are lots of things to learn about the journey itself, rather than the end result which is what most people may only want to look at.
Thanks for writing, your words are so true.
Hi guys,
Thanks for writing in and sharing your thoughts.
Life’s interesting because it’s never easy. I remember a friend telling me, ” I always go for things that are difficult. What’s the fun of doing things that are simple? ” That got me inspired. I understand it’s the mentality that can get you to the place you want to be. It’s just a twist of thoughts.
We can’t control changes, but we can accept and embrace it. Don’t let these be your obstacles, but a motivating force in creating and giving out more =)
What can’t kill you makes you stronger
Cheers!
haha. Thanks Joi.
What can’t kill certainly makes one stronger. This is really true. We just have to be adaptable and responsive to changes that we encounter.
How’s your life recently? Any upcoming performance or promotion activities coming up soon?
(P.S. It seems that you have much free time to blog these few days. So curious about your upcoming plans. :P)
Whatever that makes one frustrated will make one think of other alternatives to get things done. And it also makes one learn not to let frustration get him/her down.
Why did I say that? That’s because I experienced it recently. Like in my office, there is really a lack of resources like computers. Especially when I wanted to sit down and get my work done properly, one of those who are mainly based in the office will come and tell me that he wanted to use the PC at my desk.
I can’t do anything to make that person go to another computer but I can do my things at another computer that is not occupied and at the same time, it strengthens my tolerance and makes me learn to keep my cool because it’s no use getting angry over such trivial matters.
That’s part and parcel of our life… it’s all about how you react to different situations.
Cheers!
Yes indeed, there will be no fun if there are no challenges in life. It is through the challenges and problems in life you face that we mature, grow up and learn from our mistakes. Changes are a test of our adaptability, our ability to adapt to the environment in face of adversity. However, there are also times when we just have to learn to let go when the tension is too tight.
Have you ever sat on a busy street, watching people walked by… Children enjoying themselves. Couples quarrelling and making up. Friends joking with one another. What if you were not sitting there, witnessing all the different events taking place? Will another set of events unfold? Will the world care if you do not were not there at all?
I say, life is like a show. 只有真心演人生这场戏,才能无怨无悔. The sentence is really true, we just have to finish the show with a sincere/truthful heart and put in our best efforts, only then can the audience appreciate our presence and we can live without regrets…
erm…i like this entry very very much…everyone is finding about the meaning of life~~including myself…
well, jst like u said…life is unpreditable~~we can’t control the outcome, but we can try to do our best in everything. Maybe the result is not the best, but at least we tried and no regret…tat’s wat i always believe in and achieving for…
Cheers~~
hope you can share some of ur inner thoughts like this every now and then when you’re free… love this post a lot.. good 1 Joi.
Jia you!
Hi everyone,
Life should be look upon with inspirations and challenges that awaits us… although there might be occassions that will belittle our dreams and directions… but hold on to what you believe in and you would achieve what you initially set out to reach… remember to go for the extra mile, there would always be a pot of gold waiting at the end of the rainbow…
Life can be contradicting at times too… things that we are doing, we might find it too difficult and would want to give up… too simple and we find no satisfaction in completing it… well, this is human nature…
Joi, what you have said is very thought provoking… always live life to the fullest… that’s what I believe in… never to allow any regrets in life.
Cheers!
Hello Joi,
So sorry that I have not logged on to your web blog for quite sometime.
Actually, to me, life is just a manifestation of many thoughts. Whether you define life as good or bad would definitely depending on that moment of your arising thought. And thought is impermanence too and many people like to say it as illusion.
If you feel a day with bad moods, then stop your activities for a moment and you need to cool down your mind. Take deep breath and sit down. Give away all your thoughts a while and listen to this emptiness.
Then, after a few minutes, come back, refreshen yourself and slowly recover yourself. Then tell yourself …what is life? What did you know about life?
Regards

I think, life is about pursuing your dreams but at the same time treasure what you have.
I think, life is getting what you desire without hurting others.
I think, life is learning when to perserve and when to let go.
I think, life is like a gamble. There’s no sure bet. You can win or lose, or have neither.
I think, life is about love. It has no boundaries and can come in many forms.
I think, life is about right or wrong. One can’t be right by doing wrong and can’t be wrong by doing right. Always stick by your principles and hold on to your values.
I think, life is about accepting your mistakes, learning from them and then move on.
I think, life is too short to worry too much. Live as if you are going to die tomorrow.

Hi Joi, this is my first time here, and I am really impressed with this entry. It sets me thinking about life.
I believe that life is about giving thanks to people who have helped you, and to help those who needs it. “What goes around comes around”. Repaying those people who have helped you is, in my opinion, the least one can do. Also, I believe in helping people whenever possible on my own initiative. A rather “big” idea indeed, but if every one does his part, the society will definitely become a better place.
I also believe that to understand life, one must live his life with sound moral values. Basically, it’s treating the people around him with respect and well, and to behave in the best appropriate manner in different situation. Like for example, do not act haughty, do not be rude to people, etc. Cultivating good moral values will enable one to see good in others, and reduce negative feelings.
These are just my 2-cents’ worth. =)
PS. Joi, I love your new songs, indecisive and sorry, i love you. Listening to your songs is soothing and relaxing =p
I believe that Everyday is a struggle, Every breath is a fight for survival. But, Im not sure if it’s worth it.
Paulo Coelho is a brazilian writer who has a flair in blending spirituality into fiction. He shares alot about life, dreams and realistic thoughts.
Pick up one of his books one day when you have time, Joi. Im sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
hello joi! You’re my secondary school senior! Haha!
Can I find out how to get the piano scores for your songs, like those penned by Peggy Hsu?
Thanks

And to all who wrote in response to this blog entry. It’s really surprising to see and read so many of you are deep thinkers here. I’ve learnt alot from your responses. Thank you for sharing
