Out in the Woods and Merry Christmas!

Untitled-3

Some people find them scary. To a certain extent, I do too. However, with this “latest” craze by my friends, I used photography to justify my understanding on why they are RATHER obsessed on them.

I took them to the breezy, scenic Portsdown road and took pictures of them doing what we were doing. Yes, having tea and all that lazy late morning stuff. I kneeled, laid and bent down to capture all these photogenic dolls. To my amazement, I find it such an enjoyment to take them, I totally forgot about time.

As an artiste, I’m always being dolled and fussed about my the stylists during a photoshoot, and now, this doll has taken over what I’d been doing. A photographer’s job is no easy pea task! It’s been really fun! Except for the fact that I have more pigmentations on my skin now… sigh, no sacrifice, no gain!

Anyway, who cares when you are having fun? And talking about fun, my favourite festive season of the year is here again! I had missed out celebrating Christmas in Singapore for the past 3 years due to work. For most of my overseas friends, it’s hard for them to associate a hot humid weather to celebrating Christmas, but for us in the tropical countries, it’s the mood for sharing and spreading the joy that matters. Afterall, we’ll still be having all the goodies and presents and christmas trees :)

Here’s wishing all of you, my fans and all, A MERRY CHRISTMAS 2008!

Lots of love and blessings,

Joi

Embracing Failure

We were taught to celebrate success in our lives. This speech by J K Rowling at Harvard’s commencement speech talks about embracing the failures in life. As the old saying goes” Failure is the mother of all success”. Indeed.

Enjoy the clips.

The Aids we need

Today is World AIDS day . So much has been said and done to educate people on the disease prior to this day. While the World AIDS day focuses on the education and prevention of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), it seems to me that the world also need other aids other than the World AIDS day .

We need more aids for the human spirit to fight all the terrorism in the world.

We need more aids for the rampage in Bangkok.

We need more aids in preserving our nature and our creativity in recycling the things we have and use.

We need more aids to boost our morale to prepare for the economic downturn.

And the aid we need most is actually ourselves, our faith, in believing that things will turn out better than ever. Believe you can create to fulfill the happiness and all the beauty in your life. But we need to act now.

Let us all put our childishness away, and the fact that whining and complaining will get us nowhere.

PS: My deepest condolences to the family of Singaporean Lo Hwei Yen who lost her life to terrorists in Mumbai. The act of terrorism will never be tolerated and justice will be brought upon those who brought these condemmed terror acts to the innocent people.
